Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye
Having graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Karadeniz Technical University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineer, Adil Karaismailoğlu received his Master’s Degree on Urban Systems and Transportation Management from Bahçeşehir University.
He started his professional career in 1995, at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s (IBB) Directorate for Transportation Coordination, served as an engineer and a manager in the IETT (Istanbul Electric Tramway and Tunnel Establishments) and as a Deputy Director in charge of Traffic Control Center and further as a Transportation Coordination Director in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
Mr. Karaismailoğlu was assigned as the head for Transportation of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 2014 and in 2018 was appointed as Deputy Secretary General in charge of Transportation, Environment and Technological Investments. He voluntarily resigned from his Office in July 2019.
Mr. Adil Karaismailoğlu made significant contributions to the development and implementation of Istanbul Transportation Master Plan, Istanbul Parking Areas Master Plan, Istanbul Logistics Master Plan as well as Istanbul Traffic Safety Master Plan. Mr. Karaismailoğlu pioneered integration of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs) into the 35.000-km transportation network of Istanbul, as well as the establishment of the first Traffic Control Center of Türkiye. Moreover, he made contributions to realization of various other projects, including development of local and unique mobile applications, such as IBB Mobile Traffic and IBB Road Guide.
While serving as the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure since his appointment on September 20, 2019, Adil Karaismailoğlu was appointed as the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure by the Presidential Decree issued on March 28, 2020.
Born on May 19, 1969, Adil Karaismailoğlu is married and has two children.
