Clara Fernández

Director, Academia Superior de Ciencias Aeronáuticas (ASCA)

Her career in civil aviation extends over 28 years in various technical and leadership roles. Prior to her appointment as Director of ASCA, she served as Directorate Coordinator of the Air Navigation and as Chief of Research, Development and Innovation at ASCA. For the five years previous, Ms. Fernández was the PMO/Strategic Planning Manager for the Civil Aviation Authority in Dominican Republic.

Her professional experience also includes positions as member of the TRAINAIR PLUS Steering Committee (TPSC) of ICAO, head of the training Macrotask in the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC) and part of pioneering team in Dominican Republic for the implementation of the Radar System (CNS).

Ms. Fernández has a degree in computer science and has earned advanced degrees from University of Saint George, Spain (International Master in Production and Innovation -MPI), University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain (Postgraduate - Strengthening Public Leadership) and Project Management International, USA (Project Management Professional Certification - PMP). She is also a certified auditor in Quality Management Systems (QMS) and certified as TRAINAIR PLUS instructor. She is fluent in Spanish and is proficient in English.
